Most tubing problems do not begin as dramatic failures. They begin as small defects that look manageable at incoming inspection and become expensive later. That is especially true with Tantalum Tubing and Tantalum Capillary, where the parts often feed into precision conversion or assembly work.

The hard lesson is simple: if the defect is easy to ignore when the material is raw, it may be expensive to remove once the part has moved deeper into the build.

# Burrs and poor edge condition

If the tubing is going to be cut into short segments, burrs are usually the first visible problem. They interfere with seating, handling, insertion, and sometimes cleaning. The mistake is using the same generic inspection approach for every tubing job.

– What are the common defect modes seen in production? 

– How is cleanliness handled after manufacturing or cutting?

– How are short parts packaged to minimize contact damage? 

The answers tell you a lot about whether the supplier understands the material or simply sells it.
